When the Great Inns of Britain Inn Keepers recently met for their AGM, they took the opportunity to celebrate having been invited to become the UK representative of the prestigious Historic Hotels of Europe, which brings together and promotes Europe’s finest historic hotels associations. The Great Inns join HHE’s incredible collection of over 600 châteaux, manors, convents, palaces, monasteries, farms, townhouses, villas, post-houses and family-owned residences – all of which represent the very best of their countries' national cultural traditions, historic heritage and architecture.
The Great Inns of Britain takes its place alongside 18 other carefully selected associations from right across Europe, all of which can be viewed through the website www.historichotelsofeurope.com
The Historic Hotels of Europe share the same passion and principles of The Great Inns of Britain in offering individual properties, with distinctive style, history and character, where guest can enjoy a unique and welcoming experience.
In welcoming Great Inns on board, Emyr Griffiths, Vice Chairman of HHE, said: “We are delighted to welcome The Great Inns of Britain, whose passion for Innkeeping traditions, and diverse portfolio of independent, historic properties, will I’m sure make them an excellent ambassador for Great Britain.”
Sir Thomas Ingilby (Chair and co-founder of The Great Inns of Britain, and Innkeeper of The Boar’s Head, Ripley, North Yorkshire) added:
“Becoming a member of Historic Hotels of Europe is an exciting new venture for the Great Inns. We are very much looking forward to strengthening Britain’s presence to European visitors and raising awareness of our country’s diverse character, history, traditions, regional cuisine and of course, our warm, welcoming hospitality. We’re equally sure that guests of the Great Inns will enjoy discovering HHE’s wealth of beautiful, historic properties throughout Europe. ”
