The Great Inns of Britain proudly announces the addition of four fabulous new members to its exclusive collection: The Rose & Crown at Romaldkirk, The Horseshoe Inn, The Shibden Mill Inn and Grassington House. There are now 24 inns around the country that are part of the Great Inns of Britain, membership of which is by invitation from existing members.

The Rose & Crown at Romaldkirk in Teesdale, Co Durham, enjoys a picture postcard setting; since 1733, the Inn has overlooked the village greens, complete with medieval stocks, Saxon church and charming stone built cottages. Just over the Scottish border, The Horseshoe Inn at Eddleston near Peebles (30 minutes south of Edinburgh) is a converted blacksmith’s smiddy – Bardoulet’s Restaurant offers some of the finest dining in Scotland.

The Shibden Mill Inn and Grassington House are both located in ‘God’s own county’ - Yorkshire. The 17th century Inn Shibden Mill Inn in Halifax, West Yorkshire nestles in the heart of the Shibden Valley. Beginning life as a corn and spinning mill it offers a warm, cosy atmosphere with period features in a picturesque setting. Heading into the Yorkshire Dales, Grassington House offers Georgian elegance in the heart of Grassington, a quaint village in upper Wharfedale, North Yorkshire.

Welcoming the new members, Sir Thomas Ingilby, Chair and co-founder of the Great Inns of Britain, said:
“The Great Inns of Britain has had a wonderful past six months or so - we have been elected as the UK members of the presitgious Historic Hotels of Europe association and have welcomed four fabulous new properties to the Great Inns collection. Each new member brings its own unique offer and characteristics, but all share the essential qualities of The Great Inns –historical charm, first class food and hospitality, coupled with excellent wines and real ales.”
